When you are a parent, you quickly learn that everyone has an opinion and that they are more than happy to give you unsolicited advice. This is amplified when one lives life in the public eye, like Jessica Simpson. On August 25, 2023, Jessica shared a carousel of fun photos of her and her 11-year-old daughter Maxwell. One can only infer that she could not have predicted the criticism to come in the comments.
Maxwell wore a long denim skirt and denim crop top with black boots. Many found this inappropriate for her age. There were some commenters that came to Jessica’s defense.
“Bring your Barbie to work day ,” Jessica captioned the photos. Many Instagram users were quick to slam her for allowing her daughter to wear a crop top.
“Isn't she like 11 or something??" wrote one user. "Stop sexualizing your little girl.”
“Not a good look for an 11 year old child!” chimed in another.
“Totally unacceptable for an 11 year old child!!!” agreed a third user.
Not everyone was as judgmental.
“This is why women are put into a box and society thinks that we should act and dressed a certain way, Who cares,” countered one user. “This is not your body this is not your daughter. I think they both look beautiful smart and amazing! So much hate in this world’s and that shows how many people are truly unhappy with themselves and their own lives.”
