Karoline Leavitt Says We’re ‘Moving On’ From Concerns About Trump & Epstein

Karoline Leavitt is apparently ready to move on from concerns about President Donald Trump’s ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Unfortunately for her and the rest of the Trump administration, tons of other people aren’t going to forget about it. When asked about an FBI interview that was among the recently released Epstein files, the White House Press Secretary reiterated Trump’s claims that he “cut off his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.” After defending Trump, Leavitt said, “We’re moving on from that.”

On social media, people did not take this well and argued that we are absolutely not “moving on.”

A reporter asked Leavitt about a July 2006 call Trump allegedly made to the police.

According to a 2019 FBI interview from the Epstein files, the police in Palm Beach, Florida received a call from Trump that year. During the FBI interview, police chief Michael Reiter recalled Trump saying, “Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this,” referring to Epstein. The document also alleges that Trump was around Epstein when teenagers were also there one time, but he “got the hell out of there.” The alleged call has raised questions about what Trump knew about Epstein.

A reporter asked Leavitt whether the call happened, and asked her to explain. She responded, “What I will say is that the president has always remained consistent and that he kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club at Mar-a-Lago because, frankly, Jeffrey Epstein was a creep. And unlike many other people who are named in these files, President Trump cut off his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and was honest and transparent about that for years and years.”

She didn’t say whether or not the call actually happened.

The reporter once again asked Leavitt if the call happened. She said, “Look, it was a phone call that may or may not have happened in 2006. I don’t know the answer to that question.” However, she said if the call did occur, it “corroborates exactly what President Trump has said from the beginning.”

She continued, “And I’m sure many of you, when you read that alleged FBI report, probably thought to yourself, ‘Wow, this really cracks our narrative that we’ve been trying to push about this president for many years.’ So, we’re moving on from that.”

The Trump administration might be “moving on” but…

Other people will keep talking about it. “No one is moving on from this,” one critic wrote on X. “It’s all some of us can think about lately. We won’t be letting this one go.” Even some people who said they voted for and continue to support Trump called Leavitt’s statement a “mistake” and said they’re not moving on, either. Several people argued that Leavitt seemed to be saying that “we’re moving on” from the “narrative” about Trump’s relationship with Epstein, not from the Epstein files altogether. But either way, people found the comment disturbing.

Another person said, “You don’t get to decide when the public stops asking questions about abuse, power and accountability. Release the information. Answer the questions. Stop deflecting.” A third critic added, “And we want to know WHY they are so intent on covering up for Epstein.”

Trump’s niece Mary Trump was among the critics who spoke out about it. On X, she wrote, “Karoline Leavitt: ‘We’re moving on from [the Epstein files].’ The rest of the world: ‘No–we’re not. Ever.'”
