Kate Hudson Reveals She And Oliver Hudson Have Reconnected With Their Estranged Sister

Kate Hudson has always hoped for the opportunity to reunite with her estranged siblings, and she's been open about the complicated relationships she's held with them for years. But in the most recent episode of her and her brother Oliver Hudson's podcast, Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, the 44-year-old actress revealed that she finally got the chance to reconnect with one of her estranged sisters over the phone. She discussed with podcast guests Joel and Benji Madden about the emotional reunion.

"I had this moment last year where I was like, 'I don't know why I don't talk to my other siblings.' I don't care what the history is with our parents," she shared. "I have two sisters that I don't speak to for no other reason than our family is separated."

Daughter of actress Goldie Hawn and actor Bill Hudson, Kate was raised in a blended family by her mom and stepdad Kurt Russell. The family included her brother, Oliver, stepbrother Boston Russell, and half-brother Wyatt Russell. Her dad, Bill, also has three other children.

One of those children, Kate recently reunited with over the phone. "My sister and I and my brother have all just started communicating again," she said. "And honestly, I got on the phone with my sister and we just started bawling our eyes out. It was so great."

"[My sister] even said it," she recalled of their conversation on reconciling. "We start now. We start now." She did not directly specify which sister she was speaking of.

Goldie and Bill divorced in 1982. Kate and Oliver went on to be raised by their mother and Kurt. Though not married, the couple have been together since 1983.

Kate has been open about her estranged relationship with her dad. "I have a great family, I have a beautiful mother, I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life, but it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad," she said in a former interview. "People sometimes need to hear that they're not alone in that."

"We've been talking so much about sibling relationships and distraught relationships or good relations and we're sitting here like we have the best family, like we're so great. And yet, we don't ever acknowledge the fact that we have four other siblings. So I've been thinking about the Hudsons," she mentioned previously to her brother. "Thinking it's important that we reach out with all of our siblings and maybe connect with them a little bit."

Kate has three children of her own who she had with three different men. "I've got multiple dads. I've got kids all over the place," she said. "The only expectations I have that are really high in my life is with my kids and with family stuff. Other than that, I just let it go."
