Kate Middleton Has Been Hospitalized & Cancels All Of Her Engagements Until April

The Princess of Wales, who recently turned 42 years old, is on the road to recovery after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery at The London Clinic on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Through a statement from Kensington Palace, it was revealed that Kate Middleton is recovering in the hospital and will have all of her engagements canceled until Easter. "Her Royal Highness and The Princess of Wales was admitted to the hospital yesterday for a planned abdominal surgery," the statement began.

"The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery," the statement continued. "Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."

"The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate," the statement continued. "She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private."

"Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share," the post concluded. "The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."

People in the comments sent their warm wishes.

"Praying for your healthy recovery…Get well soon," one person wrote.

"I’ve had an abdominal surgery too, and it is painful recovery," another person shared. "Praying for the princess and appreciate her desire to protect her and her children’s privacy."

Some showed more concern for Kate's well-being.

"Wow 10 to 14 days in hospital???" one person commented. "That’s long."

"That's very concerning," another user chimed in. "That's a looong hospital stay and longer recovery. As a surgical nurse, I know this must've been a very serious medical procedure. Hoping for a full recovery for this young mom. ❤️."

After being discharged from the hospital, Kate is expected to recover at her family home in Windsor. Prince William will also be cutting back on his public duties to support her during her recovery and take care of their three children.

Prince William will not be undertaking official duties while his wife is in the hospital or during the initial days of her returning home to recover. TV cameras and reporters were seen near the hospital after the statement was released. A number of police officers were also seen around the streets near the building.

In a later statement on King Charles' condition, the palace shared that he will be undergoing surgery next week. "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate."
