Parents are as unique as the children they raise. Sometimes, a dad can be the disciplinarian or the duties can fall to mom. At times, it's both or neither. There’s a myriad of possibilities.
In May 2023, Prince William and Kate Middleton hosted a Buckingham Palace garden party. It was held just a couple of days after King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation. Two of the attendees, 93-year-old Aldith Grandison and her daughter, Jay Cee La Bouche spoke to the Princess of Wales about comedy, which led to a conversation about parenting styles.
Sky News shared a video of the exchange between the ladies on Twitter. "I'm terrible. I'm terrible at jokes," Kate admitted. She went on to state that William was “very good” at it.
"You're the strict one," Aldith stated as fact. Kate lovingly corrected her with a chuckle. "I'm definitely not strict,” she stated. “How can you tell that? Surely not!"

Kate and William share three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. It is their desire to give their children the most normal childhoods they can while still being open and honest about their royal duties. It is a balancing act.
One royal insider believes the couple is doing a great job. They think Kate brings a healthy outsider’s perspective into the family. "Those children look pretty happy with life," the source told People. "A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that's how she grew up. William absolutely loves it."
