When a song becomes an instant classic, you're going to hear a lot of it. If you've been consuming any type of media, you've heard about Lady Gaga's brilliant performance alongside Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born. One of the amazing songs that resulted from the film is the Grammy Award-winning tune "Shallow." Now there's another powerhouse vocalist who is giving Lady Gaga a run for her money with her cover of the powerful ballad.
Kelly Clarkson had been traveling the country on her The Meaning of Life tour. Kelly had plenty of powerful, emotional songs of her own to tackle on the tour. Still, she decided to do a cover of "Shallow" that brought the crowd to its knees. Like so many, she's been captivated by the song written by Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt. She also revealed her past experiences with Lady Gaga earlier in their careers. Kelly revealed why she thinks the Oscar-nominated star is an "amazing" artist and person.
Kelly Clarkson's The Meaning of Life tour in 2019 was a slam dunk and the star enjoyed some truly wonderful moments on the roa. It's been a unique experience for Kelly, who is headlining a tour for the first time in three years.
Now if there's one thing we know about Kelly Clarkson, it's that her vocal ability is off the charts. From her audition for American Idol in 2002 until now, we've seen her deliver some seriously powerful performances.
In 2019, she honored her former mother-in-law/country superstar Reba McEntire at the Kennedy Center Honors. She wowed audiences with her performance of "Fancy" honoring her kids' "rad grandma."
On the Green Bay, Wisconsin, stop of the tour, Kelly treated fans to one of those special and powerful performances. She decided to cover "Shallow," the hit single from A Star Is Born.
The song had a tremendous buzz around it since the release of the film. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performed it as a duet at the Oscars, although she tackled the single and its insane vocal run solo at the Grammys.

Before singing the tune, Kelly revealed that she and Lady Gaga have actually crossed paths before. The two performed together about a decade ago for the Grammy Celebration Concert Tour. The pictures are majorly nostalgic.
Kelly prefaced the performance by talking about how she doesn't buy into the competitiveness of the industry, something that's clear from her inclusion of and collaborations with other artists. "I know there's a lot of competition with like artists in the industry, but there's a lot of us that just dig each other, and we really get inspired by each other and what they're doing," she explained.

She went on to discuss Gaga, although not yet by name. She told the audience, "This chick is amazing. We're really different and at the same time, we're really similar in the fact that she just loves music and that's why she's doing what she's doing."

Kelly recalled their performance together and what a sweetheart she found Gaga to be. "I remember her first single, we actually did a show together combined for some event and she is one of the only artists that has ever — she wrote me a handwritten letter saying, 'Thank you so much; it was an honor to open for you,'" Kelly reminisced.

"She was the nicest human being ever," Kelly remembered fondly. "It's cool, just to know someone that talented is also really nice."
She covered the song, joking, "I hope I don't suck, and if I do, I hope she doesn't see it." With Kelly's vocal chops, there was no way she would.
Fans in Green Bay weren't the only ones who got to enjoy the cover. It was broadcast on Kelly's Facebook Live for her "Minute and a Glass of Wine" segment that she's been doing during the tour.
It's no surprise that Kelly rocked the cover. She breathed new life into an already incredible track that's already been celebrated by so many.
Fans are hoping we might one day be treated to a duet by the women. Whether it's "Shallow" or any other track, I think we can all agree that we need this collaboration desperately!
