Friends And Loved Ones Worry As Liza Minnelli Becomes More Reclusive And Isolated At Home

According to a source, 77-year-old Liza Minnelli has chosen to spend her final days away from the spotlight and instead leading a life of seclusion. The insider shared that the singer receives around-the-clock care and rarely leaves her home anymore. However, they are holding onto hope that the dancer and choreographer will return to the stage for a final goodbye.

Liza's health has been a long journey over the years. She developed a problem with alcohol and substance abuse after her mother, Judy Garland, died in 1969.

"Liza doesn't leave home much anymore," the sourced told the National Enquirer. "She's surrounded by her dogs, her favorite movies and her memories."

The source continued to applaud the former performer for finally taking the time to take care of herself. "She has spent a lifetime making other people happy. Now it's time to focus on herself."

The insider also shared that Liza is hoping to return to the stage to perform for her fans again, one last time. Apparently, she's determined to make the performance happen, even if it's from a wheelchair.

Liza started her career as an actress, making her debut in a film when she was only a toddler. She appeared in In the Good Old Summertime, which starred her mother.

The actress opened up about having a difficult relationship with her mother over the years. Judy suffered from a pill addicition and depression, which Liza often tried to care for her through.

As a teenager, she gave up school to pursue a stage career. From there, she appeared on her mother's television series and also landed Broadway and movie roles.

Two years after her mother died from an accidental drug dose, Liza landed what is considered her greatest film role in the 1972 movie Cabaret. For that movie, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Liza's most recent appearance was at the 2022 Oscars, where she joined Lady Gaga onstage to present the Oscar for Best Picture. "Oh, I'm so excited. I haven't been up here in so long," she spoke to the crowd before singing a song. "I love you. Thank you for all the years of joy that you brought me."
