Bestselling author Wade Rouse shared how he accidentally soaked his contacts in facial toner.
"And that’s when [Wade's husband, Gary] saw it: A bottle of facial toner — which looked similar to my contact solution — was sitting on the bathroom counter," Wade shared in a post on Today.com. "I had soaked my contacts overnight in acid, witch hazel and alcohol. I had blinded myself."
By the time he got to the ER, he could see only a "pinhole of light" and, according to his friends in the medical field, he had only a small amount of time for treatment. The medical staff did everything they could and sent him home, with no guarantee that his vision would be fully restored.

“I just feel so stupid. I caused all of this myself. By being tired, rushed, always in a hurry," Wade said.
“We’re all human,” one nurse responded. “That’s the beauty and horror of being alive. But some of us lucky souls get a second chance to see the light.”
And lucky enough, Wade did.
