Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims She Was Attacked By An ‘Insane’ Woman Inside A Restaurant

Politics are a hotbed issue these days, with many having very strong opinions on what is right. These beliefs often cause people to act passionately but irrationally. It can be a scary thing to experience.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claims to have been “attacked” by one such person. She took to Twitter to share her story. While it is never OK to attack someone in any manner, the irony is that Greene lashes her own verbal assaults on others at inappropriate times, as seen in her behavior at the recent State of the Union address by President Joe Biden and her interactions with Parkland school shooting survivor David Hogg.

Greene has represented Georgia's 14th Congressional District since 2021 and has been a very polarizing figure. “I was attacked in a restaurant tonight by an insane women and screamed at by her adult son,” her tweet begins.

Greene did not appreciate this mother-and-son pair interrupting her and her colleagues as they were trying to work. “They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views. They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control,” she went on to say.

Greene was so engrossed in her work that she did not notice them at first. This quickly changed. “I was sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed these people until they turned into demons,” she continued.

Greene feels incredibly wronged and disrespected. “People used to respect others even if they had different views. But not anymore. Our country is gone,” she concluded.

Perhaps the public would have more empathy for Greene’s story if she had not recently displayed similar behavior. On February 7, 2023, President Joe Biden gave his constitutionally mandated State of the Union address. Greene was one of the many Republican hecklers during his speech.

"Instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans — some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset. I am not saying it’s a majority," President Biden said. Greene rose to her feet and called Biden a “liar.” This is just one example of the many times she interrupted his speech. Her difference of opinion could have been expressed at a more appropriate time and in a more respectful manner.

Greene displayed similar behavior towards Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg. Her harassment of this brave activist was caught on video in March 2019. In the video, Hogg attempts to walk into the US Capitol where he has meetings with leaders, but Greene bombards him with baseless claims and questions. She appears jealous he was able to get meetings with senators that she was not.

Hogg spoke to CNN’s Alisyn Camerota about the experience. He admitted to being fearful for his life when Greene told him she carried a gun. "If they shoot me, they prove my point," he said.

Hogg believes in his work too much to be stopped by her bullying tactics. “I was told growing up, it’s just better not to respond to bullies and just walk away,” he added.

Greene's newfound outrage over people’s bad behavior when they disagree with each other is hard to reconcile. Apparently it only applies when it is directed toward her and not others. One can only hope she has an epiphany because of her latest experience and also changes her own behavior.
