It’s not that anyone is really surprised that Matt Gaetz is being creepy online. But the way he’s openly lusting over White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt still sparked a lot of backlash. At one point, the 43-year-old former representative for Florida’s 1st congressional district, was expected to serve as President Donald Trump’s attorney general. But the pick was super controversial because of sexual misconduct allegations against Gaetz, including allegations that he paid a minor for sex. The former rep withdrew from consideration to be Trump’s attorney general, and now, he’s drooling over a bikini photo of Leavitt.

An X account called Godly Nation shared a photo of Leavitt, 28, in a red bikini top and blue bikini bottoms. In the photo, she appeared to be enjoying a day on the beach with a friend. The person who posted the photo wanted people to weigh in on whether posing in a bikini in the way that Leavitt did was appropriate for someone in her position. For some reason, Gaetz shared his opinion — because of course he did.
“Is this photo is suitable for someone serving as White House Press Secretary? Let’s see,” the Godly Nation post read. Gaetz responded to the post with, “Yea. 💯”
While many agreed that there’s nothing wrong with a White House Press Secretary enjoying a day on the beach, they didn’t exactly value Gaetz’ opinion on the topic. “maybe the sex predator shouldn’t chime in,” one person responded.
Many critics alluded to the allegations against him.
Gaetz received an overwhelming number of comments from people who told him that Leavitt seems to old for him, based on the allegations against him. Gaetz was accused of paying a 17-year-old girl for sex. He has denied the allegations. But people have not forgotten about them, so in response to Gaetz’s creepy post, they left comments like, “You must think they’re teenagers.”
At the same time, some people also poked fun at Leavitt, given that her husband is 32 years older than she is. “from what’s been reported – she’s twice the age of the girls you’re interested in, and you’re half the age of the guys she’s after,” someone wrote to Gaetz.
Gaetz and Leavitt are both married. Gaetz’s wife, Ginger Luckey Gaetz, is 31 years old. In one reply, someone tagged Gaetz’s wife and wrote, “ew come get your husband.”
Others simply offered Gaetz some advice. “You should probably sit this one out,” one person suggested.
