Trump Awkwardly Impersonates Indian Prime Minister’s Accent & Critics Say It’s ‘Hard To Watch’

Critics can’t stop cringing after watching President Donald Trump talk about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Wednesday, October 29, Trump spoke at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, and a clip from his speech started circulating online. In it, Trump describes Modi as both “the nicest looking guy” and “a killer.” He then goes on to impersonate Modi.

Reacting to the clip on social media, critics said Trump’s “rambling” sounded like “verbal diarrhea.” But beyond that, his impersonation of the Indian prime minister also came off as pretty offensive, leading one critic on social media to conclude that the United States is “the laughingstock of the world” right now.

Speaking about Modi, Trump said, “I’ll tell you what, Prime Minister Modi is the nicest looking guy. He looks like he’d like to have your father like… He’s a killer! He’s tough as hell!”

On social media, many people struggled to comprehend what Trump meant by that. One person on X reacted to the speech with, “He is getting much worse now with the incoherent rambling.” Someone else wrote, “He’s like to have your father what? Does he ever finish a sentence?” Another person simply said, “I’m sorry, WHAT?”

Trump then went on to impersonate Modi, saying, “No, we will fight!” Then, going back to his normal voice, he said, “I said, ‘Whoa, is that the same man that I know?'”

Unsurprisingly, Trump also mentioned former president Joe Biden during the speech and praised himself for handling things better than Biden would have. Speaking about a May 2025 conflict between India and Pakistan, Trump claimed that they “stopped fighting” after “literally two days” because of him.

“Do you think Biden would have done that? I don’t think so. Most people wouldn’t have thought of it. They wouldn’t have thought of it. I said I was going to put 250 percent tariffs on each country, which means that you’ll never do business,” Trump said, adding, “They understood that and within 48 hours we had no war.”

Not everyone agrees with Trump’s interpretation of what happened. Per Bloomberg, India has said that Trump was not involved in resolving the four-day armed conflict between India and Pakistan in May. Additionally, Modi has reportedly been avoiding Trump because he doesn’t want to talk about Pakistan. The publication also reported that government officials were worried that Trump would once again take credit for ending the conflict.
