Matt Lauer and his girlfriend, Shamin Abas, were spotted at Don Lemon's wedding in New York City on Saturday, April 6. Though Lauer and Abas have been seeing each other for five years, they're rarely seen in public together. Lauer, 66, was fired from Today on November 29, 2017, following sexual misconduct allegations. Now the former Today anchor stays out of the spotlight, but reportedly hopes that he came make a comeback, reports Us Weekly.
At the wedding, Lauer and Abas were two of about 140 guests.
Lauer and Abas were photographed holding hands outside of the venue. Lauer wore a navy suit and Abas wore a long dress with a solid bodice and striped skirt.
In 2023, a source told People that Lauer and Abas are "happy and serious about each other."
In addition to attending former CNN anchor Don Lemon and Tim Malone's wedding, the couple also attended former show producer Jennifer Long's wedding on December 9, 2023.

A source recently told Us Weekly that Lauer feels like he is a "victim" and that "it’s very painful for him to go out there with his girlfriend" because "he’s very thin skinned."
"Don’t expect an apology, he’s the one who feels is owed an apology," the source continued, also noting that Lauer "wants to be relevant again."
On social media, many people were disgusted by Lauer's recent appearance at Lemon's wedding.
"Why would Don Lemon invite someone like Matt Lauer to his wedding?" one person wrote on X. "Doesn’t that seem…gross?!"
"Oh, isn't that just lovely?" another person tweeted. "Don Lemon and Tim Malone got married, and all the disgraced stars came out to celebrate. ."
Lauer was fired from Today in 2017 after NBC colleague Brooke Nevils accused him of inappropriate conduct at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Ronan Farrow's book Catch and Kill later shed light on the details. In the book, Nevils alleged that Lauer raped her in his hotel room at the Sochi Olympics.
Lauer has denied the allegations against him and said that the encounter with Nevils was "completely consensual." However, Nevils said that she was "too drunk to consent" and "multiple times," she told Lauer that she didn't want to have anal sex.
Other allegations against Lauer came to light when multiple women accused Lauer of sexual assault and/or harassment. Shortly after Lauer was fired, Variety published an investigation detailing Lauer's misconduct.
The outlet spoke to some of Lauer's former colleagues and learned that "he was known for making lewd comments verbally or over text messages," among other allegations of sexual misconduct.
