Meg Ryan loves being a mother. She has two children. She shares Jack Quaid, 31, with ex-husband Dennis Quaid. In 2006, Meg adopted her daughter Daisy True Ryan, 19, whom she raised as a single mom.
Meg could not be prouder of her two kids. Jack is following her footsteps in the acting world. Daisy just started college. It has been an adjustment for Meg being an empty nester. Perhaps this is why she is returning to the big screen as an actor, director, and writer of the romantic comedy What Happens Later.
"I have two of the greatest kids," Meg gushed to People. “They're just a blast. It is just a true joy. It is a joy to me to know both of them."
Meg mused that becoming a mom "instantly makes you not the most important person in the room." Meg compared motherhood to being a good host. She was always worried about her kids. "Are they inspired? Are they happy? Are they safe?" she explained.

Meg thinks her kids are very different people but have some commonalities as well. Both of them "are hilarious. They're smart, they are kind, they're interested in other people, and they're curious about the world."
She goes on to sing their praises. "I feel like both of them make the world a little better, and I just feel so proud of them … I'm so proud of both," she gushed.
Like his mother and father, Jack is an actor. His first role was Marvel in The Hunger Games. He would go on to play Marcus Macauley in Ithaca alongside his mom.
Jack’s biggest and best known role is on the Amazon series, The Boys. He plays vigilante Hughie Campbell on the popular show.
Meg supports her son’s artistic endeavors and could not be prouder. "He's just in it for all the right reasons. He's somebody who just loves what he does and obviously, he's somebody who knows that he's privileged and he's also somebody who works so hard," she stated.
Jack’s sister Daisy just started college this year. Meg admits she visits “probably more than I should." She recently made the long drive just to grab a cup of coffee with her daughter.
Meg did not let Daisy have a phone until she was 15. She believes this made her daughter a better person. "She really is somebody who has a lot of different interests and she's a great reader and she, at least, has a memory of the phone not being everything," she explained.
While being an empty-nester has been an adjustment, Meg has been able to turn into a productive period of creativity. “I've been busy," she stated.
She cannot promote her upcoming film What Happens Later as an actor because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, but as a co-writer she can. She says she never intended to write it, but here we are. "It just kept evolving," she mused. "There's something that just had to be made. The movie had to be made." It is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2023.
