Melania Trump Faces Backlash After Claiming Her Husband Cares About Women

First Lady Melania Trump claims that her husband cares about women’s safety and well-being, but people are far from convinced. After she tried to say that President Donald Trump wants the country to be safer, she was met with some pretty intense backlash from people online. After all, Trump has made headlines for making crude comments about women and going after female celebrities and journalists. He’s also been accused of sexual assault and sexual harassment, and people continue to be suspicious about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

So, when Melania said the president “would like to have a country where all of the people can walk down the street and not be harassed or murdered or women raped” during a Fox Business interview, people immediately brought up the recording in which Trump said, “Grab ’em by the p—y.”

Critics argued that her husband makes the country less safe for women.

“Then get him (Donald Trump) off the streets,” one person on X wrote in response to Melania’s comments. If Trump truly cared about women’s safety, surely he would do something about it? “So he’s locking himself up, then?!” someone else wrote. Another person said, “Maybe he should stop raping them.” And another possible step in the right direction: “Then release the…Epstein files and get the multiple men who trafficked & raped vulnerable young women & girls to finally face justice!”

But of course, many people do not actually believe that the president cares about women’s issues in the first place. “Yeah the guy who said ‘grab them by the p—y’ definitely cares about women not being harassed or raped,” someone wrote sarcastically. It’s obviously hard for critics to trust that a “serial misogynist wants to rid his country of rapists and free women from harassment.”

So, people found it “ironic” that Melania would be the one to bring this topic up.

“She probably shouldn’t be [the] person talking about women being able to walk the streets safely,” another critic wrote. “I believe her hubby is [a] convicted felon.” Someone else questioned, “Does she really lack that much self-awareness?”

However, others argued that Melania is not clueless. Instead, they think she’s “complicit” and an “enabler” who is “pretending to care.” After all, during the same interview, Melania described her husband as a “unifier” who is “doing a fantastic job.” She acted as though he’s receiving “a lot of pushback” for no reason.

One critic said, “Melania preaching about safe streets like her husband’s America First fantasy isn’t the same country where women get grabbed, assaulted, and dismissed as ‘locker room talk.’ Spare us the selective concern. Your guy enabled the chaos you’re pretending to fix. Hypocrite. Pathetic.”
