Cooking can be a joy. There is nothing better than eating a home-cooked meal someone has lovingly prepared for you. It is also a lot of work and mistakes can happen all too easily. One mom found this out the hard way and her daughter told the funny tale.
Kameron Jane, who goes by @kameron_jane, on TikTok, posted a video about her mom’s cooking mishap on April 3, 2024. It has since gone viral with over 14.1 million views and over 21,000 comments. Kameron’s mom mixed up a key ingredient, which made the chicken dish inedible. Thankfully, this isn’t the end of the story.
“OK, I feel so bad, look at what my poor mother did. She just cooked this beautiful meal,” Kameron began her TikTok. She went on to explain her mom tried to make Tuscan chicken with “pure Greek olive oil” she had just purchased online.
Kameron emphasized her mom spent a long time in the kitchen preparing this meal. She used fresh ingredients like Parmesan cheese and cherry tomatoes. Everything looked great but that olive oil turned out to be soap. “Only after she finished did we discover that it’s shower gel,” Kameron explained.

Kameron showed the bottle in question. It was Korres Pure Greek Olive Shower Gel. You can see how her mom made the error because the word "olive" is prominent.
This mistake made Kameron’s mom upset. “She just had to leave the room because she’s so angry,” Kameron stated. Kameron was brave and tried the meal anyway. “This chicken tastes like straight-up soap,” she explained.
Kameron’s TikTok caught the attention of Today.com, which reached out to Korres on the family’s behalf. The brand was determined to make this soapy mistake right. “We truly felt this mother’s pain when she realized something had gone wrong in a dish she worked hard to prepare — we’ve all been there!” a spokesperson for Korres told the outlet. “Once we were alerted of the issue, we introduced her family to our brand properly and made sure her shower (not her kitchen!) was fully stocked.”
Another brand also got in on the fun. Bristol Trading Company sent the mother daughter duo a care package with lots of goodies including some real olive oil. Kameron’s mom plans to cook up a storm with it.
Kameron would have never predicted this 15 minutes of fame but is enjoying the ride. “We never expected the video to blow up like it has, and the attention has been a little overwhelming,” Kameron told Today. “I’m a musician here in Nashville so I never in a million years thought that my first viral video or magazine write up would be about how my mother accidentally cooked dinner with soap.”
