An Atlanta mother of four has been found dead two years after her eldest son and brother were both murdered in cases that are still unsolved. Chanell Crosby, 35, was reported missing on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Five days later, she was found "unresponsive" by Atlanta police on Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority property.
According to a preliminary statement that was issued by the police department, authorities are investigating her death "to determine when and where the incident occurred."

Leading up to her death, Chanell had been actively fighting for justice in the homicide of her 13-year-old son, Jamiren Crosby, who was fatally shot in September 2022. His body was found behind a townhome in Lithonia, Georgia. To date, no one has been arrested in connection with his death. Earlier that year, in April 2022, Chanell's brother, Darrio "Polo" Giles, was also found shot to death in an apartment building in Atlanta. No one has been arrested in connection to his case either.
The mother of four had started a foundation in their family name, focusing on "gun violence, police brutality, and community service," she noted in a June 2023 interview with WSB-TV.
"We went around painting shelters, donating to children’s shelters and women's shelters," she said.

On a GoFundMe page created to help raise funeral expenses for the mother, Chanell was described as "a cherished mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, who brought so much love and light into our lives."
"It's with deep sadness that we've all seen on the news that tragedy has struck for the third time with the untimely murder of our beloved Chanell Crosby," the page reads.
Her death has not been labeled as a homicide at this time, and details of how the mother died have not yet been released to the public.
