An all-women crew is preparing to go to space, and Olivia Munn would like to know why. During her appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends, Olivia suggested that there are better ways for people to spend their money and time. Blue Origin’s all-women crew is said to be “historic,” but Olivia seemed skeptical.
“What’s the point?” she questioned. “Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous.”
The actress also pointed out that there are many other problems in the world that seem more deserving of people’s time, money, and attention. “I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now,” she said.
As Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn prepare to go to space, many Americans struggle to afford basic necessities, Olivia pointed out.
“I know this is probably obnoxious, but like, it’s so much money to go to space, and there’s a lot of people who can’t even afford eggs,” she said.
When Jenna Bush Hager pointed out that the women are going to space for just four minutes, with the entire trip lasting 11 minutes, Olivia compared the trip to riding Disney’s Space Mountain roller coaster.
“Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind,” Olivia pointed out. “What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”
Additionally, Olivia wondered why the mission had to be publicized. “If you wanna go to space, why do you need to tell us about it, you know?” she said. “It’s just like, go up there, have a good time, come on down.”
She was even more baffled when Jenna said the crew will be traveling to space “in glam.” Clearly shocked, Olivia responded with, “What? They said this out loud?!”

Blue Origin is a private company owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, who is Lauren Sánchez’s fiancé. During an interview with Elle magazine, crew members spoke about going to space with their hair and makeup done.
“Who would not get glam before the flight?!” Lauren said. Katy seemed to agree, adding that “space is going to finally be glam.”
“Let me tell you something,” Katy continued. “If I could take glam up with me, I would do that. We are going to put the ‘a–‘ in astronaut.”
Author and activist Amanda Nguyen said going “in glam” is meaningful because “it’s so important for people to see us like that.” She explained that she’s “going to be wearing lipstick” because “we contain multitudes. Women are multitudes.”
