The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association has addressed the situation head-on, noting that GoFundMe accounts have been set up for the families of the officers who were killed. Unfortunately, there are people out there who are trying to take advantage of the situation and claim the money for themselves.

David Kennedy, the president of the organization, explained, "It’s disgusting to even have to issue this statement, but our members and others are reporting to us that they’re receiving phone calls from people alleging to represent law enforcement organizations that are raising money to benefit the families of our fallen brothers."

He continued, "The public should not make donations or provide personal information to these callers. The PSTA is the only official organization that represents and serves Pennsylvania state troopers, and we do not use telephone solicitation for fundraising."

The three people who lost their lives are Trooper Martin F. Mack III, Trooper Branden T. Sisca, and pedestrian Reyes Rivera Oliveras. Pennsylvania State Police Captain James Kemm said that the accident was horrific, noting, "The impact was so great that it threw the troopers over into the northbound lanes of Interstate 95."
