Justin Timberlake DWI: Why Are Some People Complaining About Officer That Pulled Him Over?

After Justin Timberlake's DWI arrest in the Hamptons on June 18, 2024, people quickly began joking about an alleged interaction between Justin, 43, and the arresting officer. A source told Page Six that the officer didn't recognize Justin. The alleged dialogue between Justin and the officer has been used to create countless memes. "Justin said under his breath, 'This is going to ruin the tour.' The cop replied, 'What tour?' Justin said, 'The world tour,'" the source told Page Six.

Though many find it funny that the young officer didn't seem to know who Justin was, that's not the only reason people have been talking about the officer.

Following Justin's arrest, various outlets have reported on the officer who arrested him, sharing photos of him seemingly have a good time after the arrest. TMZ shared photos and videos of the arresting officer spending time on a boat and having fun with friends.

Daily Mail reported that some locals have complained about the officer who arrested Justin, saying that he's strict when it comes to traffic laws.

The officer, who is 24 years old, has a few unkind nicknames among wealthy residents, including "the Sag Harbor Nazi" and "little red-headed dips—," the outlet claimed.

“I think Justin Timberlake was a victim of over-aggressive Sag Harbor police,” a Sag Harbor resident told the outlet.

However, recent reports suggest that Justin was pulled over because of an anonymous tip-off, according to a report from the New York Post.

The owner of a local eatery told the outlet that someone at the hotel Justin had been drinking at called the police. It's unclear if the person was a staff member, a member of Justin's party, or a customer at the establishment.

"[They] said Justin was having a lot of drinks, and they told the cop to watch him if he is going to drive," the business owner told the outlet.

While the source said Justin was "treated unfairly," another local business owner believes that the officer handled the situation appropriately.

"[The officer is] definitely not a bad guy. He’s diligent, he does a good job. He just didn’t know who Justin Timberlake was! That’s all, pretty simple," the business person, Mark Zucchero, 54, told the outlet.

Justin was charged with driving while intoxicated and also received citations for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to keep right.

Justin reportedly claimed that he only consumed one martini that night. He also refused to take a breathalyzer test, reported Page Six.

He alluded to what happened at his Chicago concert on Friday, June 12.

"We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights," Justin said, addressing fans in the audience.

"It’s been a tough week, but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now," Justin continued.
