Ree Drummond is celebrating a significant milestone. The Pioneer Woman star is officially a grandma and she’ll “never be the same.” On December 18, 2024, Ree’s eldest daughter, Alex, and her husband Mauricio welcomed their first baby. Ree took to Instagram to share the exciting news. In the picture she posted, Ree and her husband Ladd Drummond sat in the hospital with their daughter’s baby girl, Sofia.
“Our first baby had her first baby. Thank you Lord, we will never be the same,” Ree Drummond captioned the photo.
The Food Network star also shared several snaps via her Instagram Stories, along with Alex and Mauricio’s collaborative post announcing the birth of their baby girl. “She’s here,” Alex wrote on Instagram. “At 2:27am our perfect girl made her arrival a couple weeks early, just in time for Christmas! We are so in love and forever changed. Thank you Lord.”
That same day, Ree also shared the happy news on her blog. “My daughter just had a daughter,” she wrote. “I’m honestly still trying to wrap my head (and heart) around it all.” Sofia is “perfect,” she added. “I’m saying that with as much objectivity as I can,” Ree wrote. “But I’m not kidding … she is perfect.”

In the same post, Ree praised Alex’s husband Mauricio. “Mauricio attended to Alex’s every need, to the point that the rest of us questioned if we even needed to be there. What a gift to Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates his love through such clear action,” Ree said.
Earlier this year, Alex and Mauricio announced that they would be welcoming a new addition to their family. “We can’t wait to meet you, little one. Baby Scott joining the party this winter!” they wrote in June 2024. “Thank you Lord for this precious gift.”
Ree’s family has had several milestones to celebrate this year. Shortly after Alex announced her pregnancy, Ree’s younger daughter, Paige, got engaged.
Ree celebrated the engagement news on Instagram and on her blog. “Happiness is seeing your daughter happy! Congratulations, David and Paige! (This is gonna be fun!),” she wrote on Instagram in August. On her blog, she added that she’s “so happy” for her daughter.
“Paige is my strong, mighty, wonderful daughter and the fact that she found a person she wants to spend her life with is a pretty indescribable feeling,” she wrote at the time.
