What to Know
Apparently, Chuck Norris once had a bone to pick with Barack Obama. In a resurfaced clip that Chuck and his wife, Gena O’Kelley, put out in 2012 amid the election that Obama won against Mitt Romney, Chuck speaks out against Obama and shares a grave warning about the world experiencing “1,000 years of darkness” if Obama is elected.
Spoiler alert: Obama won the election and went on to serve his second term in the White House. But, at the time, Chuck was apparently extremely worried about the future of the country as a whole. He says as much in the video, and his wife echoes his sentiments about the danger they believe the country would be in, should Obama be elected.
Chuck Norris is still remembered for Republican support.

Maybe it’s in poor taste for the video to show itself again so soon after Chuck dies in March 2026, but a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted it and the video sort of took off (again) from there.
When someone responded to the X post to say, “Did he have anything to say about the mad man in office currently? I’ve just made it a standard practice now to google “name” and “racism” before showing support for anyone these days,” another user replied to them to say that Chuck supported the “orange man.” Which, just so we’re clear, is a reference to Donald Trump.
Others commented to say that now, in the present day, the “1,000 days of darkness” are actually here because of Trump. Another person pointed out that Chuck might have been eight because, according to them, Obama’s win made it possible for Trump to eventually get into the White House.
“Have to agree with Chuck here,” they wrote. “Romney would have been a better option. Back then he said that Russia is a real threat. And had he won in 2012, there would have been no Trump in 2016. The Republicans would have seen that ‘an adult in the room’ is a viable option.'”
“Oh boy,” someone else responded to the resurfaced clip. “Another right wing Christian Nationalist hastening Armageddon.”
He released a video blasting Obama as president years before he died.
In the video, Chuck comberly talks to the camera, and his wife interjects with her own thoughts about the apparently dire state of the country with Obama in power for a second term. Although the video was originally shared by news outlets in 2012 when it was made, it was brought up again after Chuck’s death, just to remind everyone about what the Walker, Texas Ranger star stood for.
“If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack,” Chuck says in the video. “We’re at a tipping point and quite possibly our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don’t change the course our country is headed.”
To hear that now, in the midst of Trump’s second term in office, the irony is so thick it’s almost comical. Hey, I said almost.
Chuck goes on in the video to say, “We can no longer sit quietly or stand on the sidelines and watch our country go the way of socialism or something much worse.”
Some people don’t understand why Chuck Norris gets so much love.
In the 90s, Chuck Norris became synonymous with kicking butt as a cowboy of sorts. He was an icon during that time and, years later, some of his fans continued to support him and cheer for him. Others, however, spoke out against Chuck and his conservative Christian views in politics. Someone on a Reddit thread even posted after Chuck’s death that they “never understood all the love for Chuck Norris.” And they aren’t alone.
“I’m with you,” someone commented. “These oldheads are always annoying, man. They probably say casual racist things to their neighbours without realising what they say.”
