Rob Schneider Is Under Fire For Targeting A 17-Year-Old Trans Athlete On Social Media

Rob Schneider’s right-wing antics are sparking backlash again. This time, he has directed transphobic comments at a teenage girl. On June 1, the Los Angeles Times published an article titled, “Shielded by love, transgender athlete AB Hernandez defeated vitriol stoked by Trump.”

The article explains that AB Hernandez, a recent high school graduate, won two state track and field events as people debated and protested against her participation in the sport. Reacting to the Los Angeles Times article, Rob lashed out at the teenager. Rob is rumored to be joining Adam Sandler in Grown Ups 3, exacerbating the outrage on social media.

Rob, 62, referred to AB, 17, as a ‘s—-y failed’ athlete and misgendered her.

Reacting to the article’s headline, Rob tagged the publication and wrote, “Let me fix the title for you. ‘S—-Y FAILED MALE ATHLETE ALLOWED TO BEAT GIRLS…’ There!! Fixed!!” He actually complained about the same article—about high school sports, by the way—more than once.

“How much more of this UTTER BULL— ARE PEOPLE GOING TO TAKE?!!” he wrote in his other response to the exact same article. “Parents DO NOT LET YOUR GIRLS PARTICIPATE IN THIS LIE!!”

The posts sparked backlash on Reddit.

In response to Rob’s aggressive posts, one critic called him “creepy” and “off-putting.” Someone else simply wrote, “what a washed up loser.” And another person said, “Rob Schneider is like the uncle that your parents never let you hang out with alone, and the older you get you start to realize why.”

It’s certainly not the first time Rob has shared his right-wing views on social media. He’s been doing so for some time now. However, his friend Adam Sandler tends to be quieter about his political beliefs, so people were disappointed to see that Adam is seemingly continuing to stand by and collaborate with his friend.

Although Adam is certainly quieter than Rob is (which isn’t hard to achieve), some critics argue that he isn’t exactly hiding his political beliefs. Per Fox News, he was registered as a Republican at some point in time. In 2004, he performed at the Republican National Convention, and in 2008, he donated to Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.

Critics who already associate Adam with MAGA-adjacent politics were not all that surprised to see that he might be working with Rob on another film in spite of Rob’s blatant transphobia. They assume Adam might have similar beliefs, but knows better than to voice them publicly. “Sandler is just a Schneider who keeps it to himself so he can still have a career,” one critic assumed.

And to some critics, it doesn’t really matter what Adam’s political beliefs are. “You are the company you keep, Mr. Sandler,” someone said.

In 2024, Rob revealed that Adam still reached out to him every week.

During an interview with People, Rob made it sound like he and Adam were still good friends at that point. “There’s not been a week in 30 years where he doesn’t check in on me,” he told the publication. “I mean, that’s true. No matter where I am in the world, I’ll get a phone call, sometimes in the middle of the night. He called me from Italy, [and said], ‘What are you doing?’ I go, ‘It’s two o’clock in the morning.’ ‘Well get up. I need to talk to you. Are you good?'”

According to a report from Variety, Grown Ups 3 is currently in the works, though Netflix hasn’t confirmed any cast members yet.
