On August 16, 2023, Britney Spears' husband, Sam Asghari, filed for divorce, and sources say that infidelity might have something to do with it.
According to Page Six, Sam, 29, has said that Britney cheated on him with one of her staff members. However, publicly, Sam has made the divorce look fairly amicable so far. He first spoke up about it on his Instagram Stories on Thursday, August 17, and wrote, "We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always."
According to TMZ, there is footage of Britney and a staff member "in a compromising position." The outlet also alleges that Sam said Britney asked a staff member to film a video of her while she was naked.
The couple had been married for just over a year. July 28 was listed at the date of separation, and Sam reportedly cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, according to People.
There have been rumors that Sam and Britney were having relationship issues for several months now, though Asghari's rep reportedly denied those claims.

According to The New York Times, Britney's decision to marry Sam in June 2022 was one of the first decisions she made (at least that the general public knows of) following the termination of the conservatorship that she was under for more than 13 years.
The two met in 2016 on the set of the singer's "Slumber Party" music video, which Sam appeared in.
Britney delivered a statement in 2021, speaking to the court about her conservatorship and asking for it to be terminated.
“I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby," she told the court at the time.
Despite rumors that Britney cheated and that Sam is threatening Britney for more money, Sam appeared to speak highly of Britney when he posted about their split on his Instagram Stories.
"AFTER 6 YEARS OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER MY WIFE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO END OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER," he wrote. "WE WILL HOLD ONTO THE LOVE AND RESPECT WE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER AND I WISH HER THE BEST ALWAYS. [Expletive] HAPPENS."
"ASKING FOR PRIVACY SEEMS REDICULOUS SO I WILL JUST ASK FOR EVERYONE … TO BE KIND AND THOUGHTFUL," he continued.
Sam's rep, Brandon Cohen, has also denied the rumors that Sam is threatening Britney in order to get more money.
"There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos," he said, according to People. "However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her."
A source told Page Six that Britney's assets are well-protected by a prenuptial agreement Sam and Britney signed. "Britney and Sam signed a prenup in her favor," the source told the outlet last year. "Any money she made before the wedding is protected.”
Despite rumors that the couple had been having issues for some time, Britney shared a heartfelt message about her estranged husband on Instagram in May.
"I feel so blessed to be with such an incredible husband who inspires me everyday !!! Have a brilliant day my friends and godspeed ✨✨✨ !!!" she captioned a video of the two of them spending time together.
