In the world of Hollywood, it's not uncommon for married couples to break up after a few years or even a few months. So when the rare celebrity couple actually makes it for the long haul, all we want to know is HOW?!
Sarah Jessica Parker recently opened up about her favorite thing to do with her husband of 21 years, Matthew Broderick. Her story is a useful lesson in keeping the love alive.
"We found ourselves alone. We went away, but we didn't realize it. We didn't plan it; it just happened," she explained to People. "We ended up alone, and it was so amazing. It was really fun."
Sarah acknowledged that, as a married couple with kids and work schedules that take them all over the place, it's tough to find any together time.
"But we're happy we have some," she said.
And ultimately, time spent apart is also beneficial for their relationship. It's all about that balance!

As one of the few celebrity couples who have actually made their marriage work long-term, it's understandable that they get a fair amount of questions about their relationship.
In a recent interview with People, Sarah explained her favorite thing to do with Matthew. Her story is a glimpse into how they keep the romance alive after all this time.
"We found ourselves alone. We went away, but we didn't realize it. We didn't plan it; it just happened," Sarah recalled.
"Because our son was away on a trip, and our daughters were otherwise engaged. We ended up alone, and it was so amazing. It was really fun."
It's not easy for these two to find time for couple activities anymore, now that they have three children — James, 16, and 9-year-old twins Marion and Tabitha.
They also have busy work lives that often keep them apart for extended periods.

Nonetheless, they still manage to find time to do a few of their favorite things.
"We love going to the theater. We love eating. We love being with our friends," Sarah told People. "Those times are few and far between, just because of work and kids' schedules, but we're happy that we have some."
Previously, Sarah has admitted that time spent apart is actually beneficial for them, too.
"I know this sounds nuts, but we have lives that allow us to be away and come back together," Sarah said on an episode of Girlboss Radio in January.
"His work life takes him here, and mine takes me there. In some ways, I think that that's been enormously beneficial because we have so much to share in a way," she continued.
So it seems that a healthy balance of both together time and alone time is the key!
But Sarah and Matthew's relationship isn't without its challenges.
"Any time that any relationship is hard, it's the point in which you're deciding, is this worth the investment getting through whatever that thing is?" Sarah continued.
"Relationships are hard. I always felt that I wanted to invest more. I love him, and I think he's brilliant," she revealed.
Like all couples, they can get on each other's nerves — but their commitment to each other always comes out on top.
"I'm sure I annoy him. He annoys me sometimes," she admitted. "I'm enormously proud of the person he is. I think the longer you can last, the more invested you just are."
