School can be a difficult time for many kids if they feel left out or are bullied, but they should never be made to feel inferior by their teachers or the school administration and its policies.
With decent-sized classes and what seemed like a true sense of community, Tara Chavez decided to send her son to Desert Cove Elementary School in Phoenix, Arizona. After a full term in school, he had made friends and was doing well in his second grade classes, so Tara felt she had made the right decision in choosing this educational facility for her little boy.
One day, when Tara was picking her son up from school, he got into the car and she immediately noticed a strange look on his face.
Feeling like he may need a little encouragement to open up, Tara asked him how his day was and he told her that everything was fine. It was then that she noticed something on his arm that hadn’t been there when she dropped him off earlier in the day.
According to BuzzFeed News, Tara’s son confessed to his mother that he had “got stamped” at school which resulted in a large stamp mark on his wrist with the words “Lunch Money” written in capital letters.

According to the news outlet, Tara’s son felt “embarrassed” and “humiliated” as he wasn’t given a choice about receiving the stamp — it’s reported that students at the school are typically given the option of a stamp or slip of paper to be sent home as a reminder to parents that the school requires more money in the child’s cafeteria food account.
