Motherhood is full of wonderful ah-ha moments. Serena Williams just had one of her own. She discovered that her leftover breast milk could help heal her under eye sunburn.
Serena took to TikTok to share this discovery. Turns out, many people already were hip to breast milk’s healing properties. It is not just for babies.
“Ok is this totally weird???” Serena captioned her TikTok confession. “I have to say after a week of using MY breast milk under my eye – it worked! I’m dying to hear your thoughts. Be nice lol .”
Serena is a mother of two daughters, Olympia and Adira, whom she shares with husband Alexis Ohanian. Big sister Olympia is 6 years old and Adira was born in August 2023. Serena loves being a mom.

In the TikTok video, Serena can be seen applying breast milk to the skin under her eyes. “I completely got burned under my eye … Don’t ask,” she stated. Serena shares she has been using retinol, which is known to make skin more sensitive to the sun.
Serena decided to use breast milk on herself after seeing how well it worked on her daughter. “It works for my kid,” she stated. If it’s good enough for her daughter, it was worth a shot.
“They say put breast milk on everything and I have a lot extra, so I’m gonna try it for a week or so and see how it goes,” Serena explained her experiment. Turns out it totally worked. Serena was amazed.
Halsey, an American singer and songwriter, came to the same conclusion separately. Her son Ender was born in 2021. “[Breast milk is] so full of antioxidants and good fats and stuff that speed up the healing process,” she gushed to Nylon magazine. She fully believes it is the “best skincare ingredient.”
