2 Travelers Arrested After Fight Breaks Out At Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Ahead Of Holiday

Traveling can be stressful, but it doesn't mean you have to lose your cool. Unfortunately, travelers at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport did not get the memo on this. On Monday, May 22, a fight broke out between two passengers who were getting off a plane. Things only escalated from there.

Soon the fight grew into a massive skirmish in the baggage claim area involving at least 12 people. It is unknown at this time exactly what they were fighting over. What is known is that two people — Christopher Hampton, 18, and Tembra Hicks, 20 — were arrested for allegedly punching a woman.

The fight took place in Terminal 3 on the lower level. It was around 11 p.m. local time when all hell broke loose. Police were called to handle the situation.

The Chicago Police Department spoke in a statement via Fox News Digital about the incident.

"A verbal dispute while deplaning escalated in the lower level of terminal 3 when a 24-year-old female victim was punched by two offenders," the CPD's statement read. “The offenders were placed into custody and charged accordingly.”

A video taken of the brawl has now gone viral. In it, you can see people fighting to the ground. Others are seen fighting on the baggage conveyor belts. Onlookers are heard pleading with the fighters to stop and wondering where security is.

A representative of O’Hare Airport assured the public that it is a safe location to visit.

“We work closely with all of our federal partners present at O’Hare and Midway International Airports and the Chicago Police Department to ensure that everyone is safe when they are in our facilities,” the rep explained. “The CDA [Chicago Department of Aviation] also ensures that its airline partners have clear lines of communication to public safety resources for occurrences within their leased areas.”
