Terry Sanderson Regrets Suing Gwyneth Paltrow: ‘I’m Going To Be On The Internet Forever’

Amidst Gwyneth Paltrow winning the ski crash trial, Terry Sanderson is seemingly having regrets about suing the actress. When asked by a reporter if he thought the trial was worth it, he replied, "Absolutely not." It seems like the settlement of $1 and legal expenses was among one of many regrets Sanderson has.

The verdict was decided on March 30, 2023. Sanderson filed a lawsuit against Paltrow in 2019 over a ski incident that occurred in 2016.

Sanderson initially sued for $3 million. However, that amount was reduced to $300,000 before the trial took place. Paltrow countersued for $1 and her legal fees.

Both parties agreed that the collision happened, but they blamed each other for the accident. Sanderson alleged that Paltrow was being "reckless" and "negligent," which led to the events that unfolded.

In a video shared by Extra, Sanderson said after the trial, "I joked about dating sites, right? It's like, I'm gonna be on the internet forever." It was speculated by Paltrow's attorney that Sanderson only sued because of her wealth and fame.

Paltrow also released a statement after the verdict was decided: “I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity. I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”

While walking out of the courtroom after the verdict was announced, Paltrow was seen placing her hand on Sanderson's shoulder, leaning down, and whispering, "I wish you well." He replied, "Thank you, dear."

Since the trial, the retired optometrist shared that he shouldn't have bothered suing Paltrow in the first place: "It’s the pain of trying to sue a celebrity."

Sanderson also mentioned he wasn't pleased with the outcome of the trial. “Who wants to take on a celebrity? No wonder I hesitated, right? It’s difficult.”
