Crew Searching For Missing Titanic Sub Are Hearing Banging Every 30 Minutes On Their Sonar

The crew searching for the missing Titan submersible have reported hearing banging every 30 minutes in the area where it's believed the sub disappeared.

A Department of Homeland Security email obtained by Rolling Stone explains, "RCC Halifax launched a P8, Poseidon, which has underwater detection capabilities from the air."

The email continues, "The P8 deployed sonobuoys, which reported a contact in a position close to the distress position. The P8 heard banging sounds in the area every 30 minutes. Four hours later additional sonar was deployed, and banging was still heard."

It's unclear if the banging is from presumed survivors of the expedition. Another email obtained by CNN indicated there are other sounds that are giving some a cautious bit of optimism. The email reads in part, "Additional acoustic feedback was heard and will assist in vectoring surface assets and also indicating continued hope of survivors."
