Apparently there's a cheat code around Ozempic, and Tracy Morgan has discovered it! He claims that he gained 40 pounds while taking the type 2 diabetes drug. The 55-year-old actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss a plethora of things. Upon sitting down in his seat, the 49-year-old talk show host complimented his appearance.
“You look good, bud,” Jimmy said. “You look great. How you staying in shape these days?” Tracy responded that it was due to the Ozempic, which has become very popular for weight loss, though it hasn't been approved as a weight loss drug.
He then went on the further talk about his experience with the medication. “I’ve learned to out-eat Ozempic,” the Cop Out actor joked. “I out-ate Ozempic. I’ve gained 40 pounds.”
“I’ve never heard of anyone gaining 40," Jimmy said. “I’m like Magic Johnson," Tracy replied. "I gained 40 pounds.” It wasn't clear if he was still taking the medication or not.

In an interview on Today With Hoda & Jenna in 2023, he told hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that he was taking the drug, and attributed his weight loss to it. "By the way, you've been working on your body and your health," Hoda said, before Tracy cut her off. "No, that's Ozempic," he said. "I ain't letting it go."
"So cool that he’s being honest," one person commented at the time. "Nothing wrong with that."
Another person wrote, "Ridiculous fad, but I love that there’s actually an honest celeb out there, willing to own that they are on it."
The medication quickly gained popularity for its weight loss advantages, even being called "Hollywood's worst-kept secret." It became hard for diabetes patients to access the drug due to the fact that many started taking it for weight loss, causing a shortage.
Other celebrities that have publicly spoken about using the drug include Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, and Sharon Osbourne. Sharon's daughter, Kelly Osbourne, spoke of the medication saying, "The people who hate on it the most are the people who are secretly doing it or pissed off that they can't afford it. Unfortunately, right now it's something that is very expensive but it eventually won't be because it actually works."
Other prescription medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro have also gained popularity for their weight loss effects. But despite Ozempic’s popularity, some users reported gaining “double the weight back” after they stopping the medication.
Side effects of the drugs can include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Extreme side effects can include: thyroid tumors, pancreatitis, vision changes, hypoglycemia, gallbladder issues, kidney failure, and cancer.
