What to Know
Vice President JD Vance isn’t exactly the most popular person out there, so a lot of what he does is criticized by people, whether it’s going to Disneyland or trying to make a joke about his shoe size. And given that not much is known about his wife, Usha Vance, and that he has made several strange comments about her, their marriage has come under scrutiny as well (JD’s interactions with Erika Kirk definitely didn’t help).
So, recently, when JD and Usha stepped off a plane together, people honed in on some details that just seemed…kind of off.
The Second Lady showed off her baby bump.
In January, the couple announced that they’re expecting their fourth child together. Even this announcement sparked backlash and exacerbated the rumors about their marriage. “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy,” a joint statement shared on Instagram read. “Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”
A comment that JD made about the pregnancy more recently made people question whether Usha was really that excited. “I remember when we decided to run for vice president,” JD said during a recent appearance. “I said, ‘Honey, I really want to have a fourth kid.'” He said his wife told him, “Well, you can become vice president, or you can have a fourth baby.”
He then bragged that he must be “persuasive” because he “got both.”
Usha spoke about her pregnancy during a recent interview.
When she sat down with NBC’s Kate Snow, Usha was asked about her husband’s questionable comments. She said, “People have asked me if we’re going to have a fourth baby, and I’ve never closed the door on that. I grew up in a family of two, and I thought that was a great number. And then I had two kids, and I thought — I didn’t feel quite done, right? So I really wanted to have a third child.”
Though she said they “did feel very complete” with three kids, she became “more and more excited about that possibility” of having a fourth child as time went on. “And so if there was a chance, I should take it,” she added. “I knew that I’d be happy if we only had three kids, and I knew that I’d be happy if we had four. And so here we are.”
Usha’s pregnancy is also historic because she and her husband will be the first vice presidential family to welcome a child while in office since 1870. Apparently, Usha didn’t know this until after she was already pregnant.
Now, people have more questions about Usha’s pregnancy.

Per The U.S. Sun, Usha recently showed off her baby bump while stepping off Air Force Two. On April 8, X user Matt Wallace shared a clip of Usha and JD getting off the plane and captioned it with, “A video of JD Vance and his wife getting off the plane is going viral as more people start to see it!”
A lot of people who watched the clip wondered what they were supposed to be looking at. They didn’t notice anything unusual about the clip. However, others were skeptical of the footage for several different reasons.
First of all, some questioned the way JD interacted with his pregnant wife. “Not helping his pregnant wife while she’s in heels and walking down the stairs?” one person on X questioned. Someone else said, “this man doesn’t hold his pregnant wife hands tells me everything i need to know.”
Some conspiracy theories about Usha’s baby bump also emerged as a result of the post. “Look closely at her stomach as she walks,” one person wrote. “There’s no way she’s really pregnant. Those sharp angles are definitely not a pregnancy stomach!” “Is she smuggling a pizza?” someone else questioned.
But many others argued that there’s really nothing abnormal to see in the clip—Usha simply looks pregnant.
