It was recently revealed that Wendy Williams is currently in a treatment facility due to her battle with alcohol abuse. One of her reps confirmed the news. The son of the former talk show host has some concerns about her well-being and the people who are around her.
Kevin Hunter Jr., whom Wendy shares with ex-husband Kevin Hunter Sr., shared that his mother's body doesn't process liquor at the same rate a "normal" person's body would.
“We’ve spoken about it," he said in regard to his mother. "And it’s gotten to a point where, yes, it could have that effect that it might be fatal because it affects her way worse than a normal person since it stays in her system.”

On top of that, Kevin Jr. is also concerned about the intentions of the people around his mom, such as her manager, Will Selby. “What’s been made more important by the people around her is that while her health may not be great, she needs to keep on earning income, and in my opinion that should not be a priority at all,” he shared.
"And whoever has been hired, they are taking advantage of someone who needs to get better," he continued. "I feel that when it comes to people wanting to ‘help’ her, a lot of it is coming from a stance of, ‘OK, she’s alone now. Let’s try to see how we can make her act the way we want her to act or if we can kind of control the rate at which she’s handling herself.'"
Wendy was placed under a court-ordered financial guardianship just last year. "Please be advised that Wendy is not in agreement with the appointment of a financial guardian by the court," her attorney, LaShawn Thomas, shared at the time. "Wendy has been very clear that she does not want a financial guardian to tell her what she can and cannot do with her money."
In response to Kevin Jr.'s accusations, Wendy's current manager, Will, shared that he has no reason to exploit her. “Taking advantage of her for what? To get what? To do what? I’m not here to brag, but I was doing just OK before Wendy came along and I insisted on helping her because she requested my assistance,” he said.
He proceeded to explain that Wendy's court-ordered guardianship itself prevents anyone from being able to exploit her. "No one, even if they wanted to take advantage of her — everything has to get approved by that court," he shared. "So, any type of business dealings that we do, Wendy, myself and anyone — we have to get the guardianship to sign off on it. So how can anyone take advantage of her?"
Wendy is also battling Graves' disease along with her alcohol abuse. She previously checked into rehab in September 2022 and, after two months of treatment, claimed to be feeling "better than ever." However, she was seen getting drunk at a New York restaurant earlier this year.
