A new webpage about the construction of the White House building now includes information about Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky and Hunter Biden’s alleged cocaine use, for some reason. The White House website update, which clearly came from President Donald Trump’s team, includes a timeline that skips over several years, as it jumps from the addition of a press briefing room in 1970 to Clinton’s affair in 1998.
It’s perhaps worth noting that this change to the building was orchestrated by former president Richard Nixon, but interestingly, the Watergate scandal is nowhere to be found on this timeline. Instead, the timeline focuses primarily on White House renovations, with a few recent “scandals” randomly thrown in there — all involving Democrats.
The timeline begins in 1791 with George Washington selecting the location for the White House. From then up until 1998, every item on the timeline is about additions to the White House or reconstruction projects. After the “Bill Clinton Scandal” of 1998, the timeline jumps to 2012 when former president Barack Obama “[hosted] members of the Muslim Brotherhood.” In reality, Obama met former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, who was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, at the United Nations General Assembly, per The Hill. Based on the timeline, nothing happened at the White House in the 14 years between Clinton’s affair and Obama’s meeting with the former Egyptian president.

Conveniently, the timeline also skipped over most of Trump’s first term. The only notable event of his first term happened in 2020, when “First Lady Melania Trump oversaw the privately funded construction of a 1,200-square-foot tennis pavilion on the South Lawn.” But if you were to think that means the Trump team decided to go back to focusing on construction projects, you’d be wrong. The next event on the timeline is “Cocaine Discovered” in 2023. This event includes an image of Hunter Biden in a bathtub and refers to him as “an admitted drug user.”
That year, a bag of cocaine truly was found in the White House lobby, but no fingerprints or DNA were on the bag, meaning there was no “physical evidence.” However, at the time, Trump blamed Hunter Biden, writing, “Does anybody really believe that the COCAINE found in the West Wing of the White House, very close to the Oval Office, is for the use of anyone other than Hunter & Joe Biden.”
He continued to perpetuate this theory via the White House timeline, which now states, “During Biden’s administration, a U.S. Secret Service agent discovered a small, zippered plastic bag containing cocaine in the West Wing entrance lobby. Speculation has pointed to Hunter Biden, an admitted drug user.”
The timeline also targets former president Joe Biden for recognizing the Transgender Day of Visibility. This section of the website was added amid the controversy surrounding Trump’s construction of a White House ballroom. On Reddit, critics called the timeline an “embarrassment” and pointed to how none of Trump’s controversies or scandals were included.
To one critic, the update made it clear that “Whitehouse.gov is nothing more than a giant propaganda machine at this point.” To another, it’s just another example of how “Trump ruins everything he touches.”
