As you go through life, you really never know when a simple act of kindness might touch someone in a way that’s completely life-changing.
Casey Fischer was an ordinary person who had experienced her fair share of ups and downs. She was a single mother living in Connecticut and it was not a life that was without hardships. But it was her two young daughters that kept her going throughout the tough times.
On top of being a full-time mom, Casey was also working on herself and had gone back to school to work toward a better future for her family.
According to HuffPost UK, one day when she was near school, Casey spotted an unhoused gentleman sitting near the side of the road who appeared to be searching for change. She saw him walk into a Dunkin’ Donuts and decided to follow him inside and offer to buy him a coffee and bagel and to sit down for a chat.
Casey told the news outlet that at first the man wasn’t very talkative, but she persisted and eventually, he opened up to her. The man’s name was Chris and he divulged to Casey that he had lost his mother to cancer and got into drugs. He told her that he routinely ran into individuals who were “very mean” to him simply due to the fact that he’s homeless.

After spending about an hour with him, Casey noticed the time and told Chris that she had to get to class. As she was getting up to leave, Chris asked her to wait a moment and began jotting something down on a crumpled piece of paper.
