Woman Confronts Girl Who Shot Her In The Face, ‘I Don’t Want To See You In My Nightmares’

Confronting your demons is a difficult task, as well as confronting your fears. It takes a lot from a person to face the thoughts or the person who continuously haunts their everyday life.

Dr. Phil shared a video of two women on his show: Shawna, a woman who was shot in the face and survived, and Jerrie, who was behind the gun. Jerrie shot Shawna during a robbery. The video starts out with Dr. Phil asking Shawna what she wants to say to her shooter.

Shawna slightly struggles to get out what she wants to say, but then explains, “I just don’t want to be afraid of you anymore. I don’t want to see you in my nightmares anymore with that gun.” Jerrie attempts an apology by saying, “I'm so sorry, I never meant to hurt you, I promise. It was an accident.”

Dr. Phil then tells Shawna to tell her shooter what she has been thinking about and to tell her what her experiences have been like since that time.

Shawna shares that she has had two children since and how they have started school. With her kids starting school, the victim has had to hear from her children the mean comments other children have made about her. They've called her ugly, and they've labeled her a monster. She has also been told that she shouldn’t go out in public looking like that.

Shawna then goes on to explain how her life is based around surgeries and doctor appointments, and she still isn’t done with them.

Shawna's mother, Linda, is with Shawna onstage and asks Jerrie, “And you don’t think about her?”

Jerrie replies, “I’ve thought about her but at the same time I haven’t lately, I’ve kind of moved on in my life, and I don’t mean to sound like that or however you feel, but I do think about you from time to time, but I have asked God for forgiveness. I’m so sorry that that happened, you know?”
