For some couples getting married nowadays, engagement and wedding photo shoots are a big part of their celebration. People plan out every outfit, location and pose for their “I do” shoots and hire top photographers to capture the memories on their big day. It’s pretty much part of the modern wedding.
However, one couple had to wait 70 years for their big photo day.
Ferris and Margaret Romaire of Louisiana were in love. Sadly, they were separated by World War II. After Ferris finally returned home from serving during the war, the high school sweethearts decided to get married.
They tied the knot in 1946 at Margaret’s parents’ home in a simple 15-minute ceremony. However, they didn’t have a camera to capture the memories of their special day.
For their 70th wedding anniversary, their granddaughter thought they deserved a special portrait to celebrate their love.
So Amanda Kleckley reached out to photographer Lara Carter to shoot wedding photos for her still-in-love grandparents.
Ferris, 90, wore a tuxedo and Margaret, 89, donned a bridal gown, including a veil.
Included in the shoot were old photographs of the pair when they were young.
The couple has four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
