There are few things in this world as incredible, and as precious, as enduring love. We’ve grown so used to divorce, disloyalty, and "conscious uncoupling," that it seems a wonder that love—true love—can still be found at all.
But we’ve seen more than enough proof lately that for some special couples, love and loyalty can endure through just about anything. We see beautiful couples like the Toczkos make it through 75 years of marriage and friendship and darling sweethearts like the Felumlees, who loved each other through thick and thin!
Now, we have another sweet pair to add to the archive of incredible, enduring love stories. Ana Maria and Domingo Chavez married fifty-five years ago after meeting at a dance two years earlier in the small city of Pharr, Texas.
They had a long and happy marriage, filled with love, friendship, travel and adventure. Together, they picked up stakes and moved to Idaho, where they raised eight children and spent every spare moment together for the better part of six decades.
Their long-lasting love story came to a close last week when the inseparable pair passed away. Their hospice beds were pushed together so that they could hold hands in their final hours. Ana Maria went first, and Domingo followed just a few hours later.
Their children believe that she “called him home,” and that he was happy to follow his sweetheart. Learn more about their incredible bond as their children and grandchildren reflect back on this amazing couple!
And if their story made you believe in true love all over again, please SHARE on Facebook for all the high school sweethearts and long-time lovebirds!
