Anne Heche died unexpectedly in August 2022 and left behind two sons. Anne didn't have a will when she died, and now her oldest son, Homer Heche Laffoon, is asking to be appointed the person in charge of her estate.
Homer has also requested to have the authority to act in his younger brother's best interests.
Homer Laffoon filed the request in late August 2022 in Los Angeles. In his request, he wrote that he's not sure what personal property and annual income his mother had at the time of her death.
A hearing in the case will be held in mid September.
Homer is the son of Anne and her ex-husband Coleman "Coley" Laffoon. Coley shared an emotional video on Instagram following Anne's death.
Coley said, "In the wake of Anne's passing, I just wanted to say a few things. One, I loved her and I miss her and I'm always going to. Two, Homer is okay. He's grieving, of course, and it's rough. It's really rough, as probably anybody can imagine, but he's surrounded by family and he's strong and he's going to be okay."
Coley also thanked those who were checking in on Homer: "Your check-ins, showing us your heart, offering prayers and everything, it's so beautiful. Thank you. It's hard for me, it's hard for my family, it's really hard for Homer. But we've got each other, and we have a lot of support and we're going to be okay."
Anne Heche was declared dead on August 11, 2022, after suffering a horrific car accident that caused critical injuries. Her organs were donated following her death.
Her representative stated at the time, "We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Anne will be deeply missed, but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work and her passionate advocacy."
