Ashton Kutcher hopes to use his celebrity by educating those who respond to "Black Lives Matter" with "All Lives Matter."
In an emotional Instagram post from 2020, the beloved actor and entrepreneur explained how the latter misses the point, despite what the person's intentions may be.
Ashton says he had a "poignant experience" while putting his two kids to bed … and turned it into a teachable lesson that applies to the current state of affairs.
Ashton and his wife, Mila Kunis, were reading bedtime stories to their daughter and son. When their daughter proclaimed she wanted to pick the first book, their son pushed back and asked why he couldn't pick first.
"Because girls go first," Mila said.
His son looked confused. "You know why girls go first?" Ashton asked him. "For you and me, girls go first, and the reason why is for some boys, girls don't get a go at all."
Ashton then compared the exchange to Black Lives Matter versus All Lives Matter … and he could barely hold back his tears by the end of his video.
