Everyone knows that it's not easy trying to find a job. There's a lot of hard work that goes into searching for open positions that fit your needs and requirements, then submitting an application that will wow potential employers. Often, this requires well-written letters and an extensive list of experience in a similar or the same field.
But for individuals with disabilities, mental or physical, finding a job can be even more difficult. A large percentage of people with autism, Down syndrome, and other conditions find themselves unemployed, but places (like this one awesome coffee shop) are changing this!
Mom Lisa Quinn has a son with Down syndrome. Addison, 16, wanted to find a job on the weekends, though.
Knowing how hard it would be for him, Lisa decided to lend a hand. She helped him craft a short letter, explaining to potential employers who he is and what he is capable of.
More than anything, he's asking for the chance to prove himself.
Now, the letter has gone viral — and you can read it by scrolling through the photos!

Lisa Quinn helped her teenage son Addison, who has Down syndrome, write a letter to potential employers. In it, he's just asking for the chance to work and prove himself.

The letter reads:
To whom it may concern:
Hi, my name is Addison. I’m 16 years old. I am in Year 10 at Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College – Tumbi Umbi Campus. I live in Erina.
I am currently looking for a job, maybe 1-2 hours on the weekend.

I am very good at wiping tables, cleaning up and sweeping the floor. This is just a few of my many talents. I have a great personality and get on with people.
I have trouble with my speech but can follow short instructions, when I have done the task a few times I can remember what to do.

At home I wash my own clothes and hang them on the line. I put the rubbish out and feed my dogs.
I would love to have the chance to gain some work experience.
Regards,
Addison Quinn
