Betty White Reveals Her Heartbreaking Secret To Oprah. I’m Sobbing!

Comedy legend Betty White spoke to Oprah Winfrey for Oprah: Where Are They Now? and said that she has one major regret — and it has nothing to do with her now-legendary career. In fact, it's much more personal and involves her late husband.

"At 93, do you have any big regrets?" Winfrey, who is known for dishing inspirational and life-changing wisdom, asked White.

In her 75 years in show business, White said that her biggest regret in life was not marrying her husband, Allen Ludden, a year earlier. The heartbreaking secret is so sweet, it hurts!

"I spent a whole year, wasted a whole year, that Allen and I could have had together, saying 'No' I wouldn't marry him," White told Oprah, referring to the year it took for her to accept Ludden's proposals. "Saying 'No, I won't leave California. No, I won't move to New York.' I wasted a whole year we could have had together."

The Golden Girls star added, with a smile, "But, we made it. We finally did."

The couple was together for 18 years before he died from stomach cancer in 1981. He was her third husband, but after his death, she swore off the idea of marrying again for good.
