People can't stop talking about Beyoncé's historic Vogue cover. The star took over the creative reins for the September issue, and she's making waves in more than one way.
First off, Beyoncé hired the first black photographer ever to shoot a Vogue cover in its 125 years. And secondly, inside the cover is an unusually candid tell-all from Bey about everything from her ancestry to Coachella.
But the detail that stands out the most? Definitely the part about Beyoncé's FUPA ("fat upper pubic area").
"I have a little mommy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it," Beyoncé said. "Whenever I’m ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my a** off until I have it. But right now, my little FUPA and I feel like we are meant to be."
Did Queen Bey just admit that she has a FUPA? Yes, she did.
The 36-year-old mom says she put a ridiculous amount of pressure on herself to get back into shape after her first daughter, Blue Ivy. With her 1-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir, she took an entirely different approach.
Bey explains that she'd been on bed rest for over a month by the time she gave birth to Rumi and Sir last year. She had an emergency C-section — a major surgery that's harder on the body than many people realize.
"I needed time to heal, to recover. During my recovery, I gave myself self-love and self-care, and I embraced being curvier. I accepted what my body wanted to be," Beyoncé said.
"To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller."
"I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies. That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot," Beyoncé explained.
And, we assume, this is why she opened up about her FUPA.
We may not all be able to switch out our extensions for giant, elaborate flower crowns, but we can all take a little inspiration from Beyoncé's love for her FUPA — and tons of people are.
Some people linked the FUPA love back to those pesky pregnancy rumors.
And others are not interested in getting a six-pack anymore.
Fans are following Bey's lead and doing their best to love their bodies.
I mean, did you read what she said?
Because we did, about five times (just to make sure).
Other folks were just amazed that Beyoncé even uttered the word FUPA in this esteemed publication.
It might seem like no big deal, but it's actually pretty monumental.
If this is your first introduction to the word FUPA, though, you're not the only one.
Now that you know, feel free to get in formation and embrace your own FUPA, if you have one — kids or no kids.
(rubs FUPA happily) Thank you, Bey.
