Bobby Brown Jr.'s death at 28 years old came as a shock late last fall.
The son of Bobby Brown Sr. was found dead in his Los Angeles home in mid-November 2020. While there was little information about his death at the time, there was some speculation it might be related to COVID-19. Sources close to Bobby Jr. said he experienced flu-like symptoms in the time leading up to his death.
On Monday, TMZ reported on the LA County Medical Examiner's Office's findings upon the completion of Bobby Jr.'s autopsy. His death was ruled an accidental overdose. This revelation is surely painful to the Brown family, who also lost 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina to drug-related causes in July 2015.
Bobby Brown Jr.'s cause of death has been revealed. It's been four months since the 28-year-old son of R&B legend Bobby Brown Sr. died suddenly. Bobby Jr. was found dead in his Los Angeles home on November 18.
At the time his body was discovered, police reported there were no drugs found at the scene. They also said that there were no indications of foul play, leaving many to wonder just what happened to the 28-year-old.
Initially, sources close to Bobby indicated he had experienced flu-like symptoms in the weeks leading up to his death. He had reportedly tested negative for COVID-19, although those close to him were allegedly urging him to get tested again. Later, a source closer to the family said that the virus was not the reason behind Bobby Jr.'s death.
The LA County Medical Examiner's Office released its findings on Monday. Bobby Jr.'s death was determined to be the result of an accidental overdose of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol. The report obtained by TMZ also stated a witness told police Bobby Jr. drank tequila and snorted half a Percocet and the cocaine the day of his death.
Bobby Brown Sr. hasn't commented on the autopsy findings. He last commented on the death when asking fans for prayers.
"Please keep my family in your prayers at this time," he said in a statement obtained by People magazine.
"Losing my son at this point in our lives has devastated my family. There are no words to explain the pain."
Bobby Jr.'s death was just five years after the Brown family mourned the loss of his half-sister, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Bobbi Kristina died in July 2015 after spending months on life support after she was found unresponsive in her bathtub. The situation was eerily similar to how her mother and Bobby Sr.'s ex, Whitney Houston, died in February 2012.
