2 Years After His Father Died, He Opens The Mailbox And Finds A Postcard From Him…I’m In Tears!

I'm always amazed when I hear of stories where someone who has passed away miraculously touches the heart of someone that loved them before they were gone.

We've seen this before with Brenda Schmitz, who passed away, but planned for a letter to be delivered to her husband two years later.

It's always emotional for us to see and read about these events, but I can't even imagine what it must be like for those folks on the receiving end of gestures like these.

One young boy, Rowan Torrez from Littleton, CO, recently discovered just how miraculous (and special) something like that can be.

According to USA Today, Rowan's father Joseph would spend time traveling back and forth between Colorado and Massachusetts, for several years, while he was getting two Master's degrees in an effort to do everything he could to provide for his family.

During his time away, Joseph would always write to his son. Sending young Rowan both letters and postcards, this was Dad's way of staying connected with the son he adored and wanted to give the best life possible.

Unfortunately, Joseph passed away on March 13, 2013 from a brain disease. He was 41 years old and, sadly, Rowan never got the chance to say goodbye to his Dad.

But early this week, something amazing happened. Only days before the two-year anniversary of his father's death, Rowan received a postcard in the mail…from Dad.

Dated June 10, 2007, the postcard was sent from Pennsylvania during one of Joseph's trips back home from Colorado. Some how, some way, it never made it through the mail to Rowan, until now.

"Hello from Pennsylvania," the letter reads. "I love you and I miss you so much."

Both Rowan and his mother were shocked, to say the least.

"He sent the postcard in 2007, along the way," Rowan's mother told USA Today in the below video, "and it finally showed up in 2015."

Nearly eight years later, this post office mishap now acts as a beautiful reminder of the father Rowan has always looked up to.

While there have been several cases of spouse and parents sending letters to be delivered to loved ones after their death, this may be the first I've heard of a postal mistake causing such a thing to happen.

"I feel like that was the final goodbye that he didn't get to say," Rowan's mother said.

What a beautiful way to say goodbye. It's amazing how the universe works sometimes.
