If you've ever gone fishing, you never expect to catch anything significant. I've gone fishing a few times, but all I've ever caught were a few small fish, perhaps a carp or a trout or two. I know there are river monsters out there, and I hope to never get one on the other end of my line!
But the ocean is much more vast and has a greater variety of fish that can end up on your hook. Recently, one little girl managed to snag a huge fish, which weighed about 20 lbs. more than her and was almost a foot larger! She set a Maryland state record, and we could never imagine encountering such a creature.
And she's certainly not the only young kid catching some massive creatures. Blake White is only 6 years old, but there's something in the name: He and his family were on a fishing trip when his hook caught the fin of a great white shark!
We would be utterly terrified, but wait until you see the photos of the moment the shark swims at the surface of the water. The 12-foot animal is but a shadow, but it must have been absolutely incredible for the family to see it up close. Blake's brother even thought it was a submarine!
