Colton Essary and his friend Maddie Hand were returning to Frankfort Community High School after a quick lunch, when they heard screams coming from nearby. That's when they notice an elderly woman had fallen on the train tracks and couldn't get up. With a train approaching, Essary knew he needed to act quickly.
As the train blasted toward them, he was able to grab the woman and get her off the train tracks just in time, saving the older woman's life. According to local news station KFVS, the woman said she was thankful that he saved her life and that he was her guardian angel.
"I had an obligation to help and if I wouldn't have made it there in time, I couldn't really live with myself," Essary told KFVS.
