I love my mom. She’s the best. The bestest even, which is I know is not a word, but my love for her is so great that I feel compelled to break the rules of English grammar for her.
We can sit on the phone for hours talking about nothing and everything all at the same time. So, when Mother’s Day rolls around, I always like to get her something thoughtful.
For a while, it was always a potted orchid. She was raised on a farm and grew her own green beans and melons, so she doesn’t like bouquets of cut flowers because she feels it’s wasteful to buy something that’s going to wilt in a few days. But a pretty potted orchid that she can tend to and watch grow is a perfect gift for her. In fact, the first time I gave it to her, she blinked a tiny tear of “aw!”
But now, thanks to me, she’s got ten of them in her lush, Floridian yard and doesn’t know what to do with so many.
So, this year I was thinking of getting her a box of live ladybugs, which I know sounds bizarre, but apparently those tiny critters can do wonders for the maintenance of a beautiful garden.
But after seeing what Reddit user bonebowl did with his two brothers as a present for their mother, I’m considering getting together with my sister and doing something similar. It’s just so fun, clever, and thoughtful!
The brothers decided to recreate some of their favorite childhood photos as adults and then made it into a calendar for their mom. Some of the pictures are…
…Sweet.
Others are oddly accurate.
But all of them are pretty funny!
Even Dad got in on the act…
…in more than just one!
Rub-a-dub-dub, fellas.
They even dug up some old toys for the project.
Yee-haw!
Oddly enough, Ninja Turtles were popular back then and today.
These scamps!
These boys aged, but Grandma sure didn't!
This calendar is sure to be filled with as much character as this family seems to have.
Please SHARE this with everyone you know, so it can truly be the gift that keeps on giving!
