Carrie Underwood shared a truly heartwarming moment recently with her mom on a Las Vegas stage.
The 39-year-old country singer was joined onstage by her mom, Carole Underwood, during Carrie's Reflection residency. The crowd at Resorts World watched on as Carrie brought her mom onstage to sing her 2007 hit, "All-American Girl."
It's the sweetest thing to see mom and daughter laugh their way through the performance together. They're having so much fun and clearly reveling in the journey they've taken together.
"Is there anything you want to say to these fine people?" Carrie asked Carole after introducing her to the audience.
"I'm so happy you’re here, and I hope you enjoy the show," Carole proudly replied.
Carrie posted photos of the special moment on Instagram after the show.
"'If you wanna go, I'll take you.' These might have been the most pivotal words anyone has ever spoken to me," Carrie wrote.
"I was busy talking myself out of trying out for American Idol and my mom said these words … the rest is history."
"Tonight, I got to sing with her on stage in front of the most incredible crowd in #LasVegas ❤️," Carrie continued.
"Life sure is amazing! Thanks, Mom, for everything! @resortsworldlv #REFLECTION."
Carrie won American Idol in 2005, at 21 years old. Her mom discussed the experience in a 2018 interview with KTUL.
"We decided that, you know if nothing happens, where your singing is concerned, by the time you graduate from college then you can get a real job," she said of talks between her and Carrie.
"I think she had one more semester to go and she said, 'Mama they are having American Idol tryouts in St. Louis and that's the closest place and it's this weekend.'"
"When it came her time to step up there she said, 'I'm not gonna sing that song. I'm gonna sing a country music song,'" Carole recalled. She also remembered worrying about what Simon Cowell would say to her.
"They had Simon [Cowell] who you know was meant to be an abrasive person to tell you just how it is, and that was good and that was a good thing, but you always wonder, 'Ohhh what's he gonna say about my kid tonight.'"
"It was amazing the night that [Carrie] won, absolutely amazing and you know, then it was kind of like now what," Carole said.
"Now what do we do, but it was a well-oiled machine by that time. They had everything laid in place to say this is what you gotta do next and this is what you gotta do next."
