Carrie Underwood Posts Candid Selfie And Admits She’s Been Hard On Herself Since Giving Birth

Carrie Underwood has gone through an emotional whirlwind over the past few years. The singer was happily living with husband Mike Fisher and their son, Isaiah. In 2017, they tried to expand their family. Sadly, the year brought tough times for the family. Carrie suffered two miscarriages, one at the beginning of the year and one that spring.

They were still trying to conceive when she suffered a fall outside their Nashville home that left her with a broken wrist. She also had to get more than 40 stitches on her face, giving her anxiety about her appearance and what others might think.

Carrie suffered another miscarriage in early 2018. Thankfully, things took a turn for the better for Carrie last summer. She shared with fans that her Cry Pretty Tour 360 would be postponed to spring 2019 because she was expecting her second child.

In late January, she gave birth to Jacob Bryan Fisher. With her tour beginning in May, Carrie has been working to get back in shape. She recently took to Instagram to share her struggles and to commit to having a healthy perspective.

When Carrie Underwood announced that her Cry Pretty Tour 360 wouldn't start until spring because she was pregnant, fans were elated for the country singer. Her journey to baby No. 2 was not an easy one.

Carrie had hoped that 2017 would be a year of new music and a new member of the family. Sadly, three miscarriages and an accident that necessitated 40 facial stitches put those plans on hold.

Thankfully, 2018 held better things for Carrie. In August, she revealed that she was expecting her second child. And in September, she finally released her new album, Cry Pretty.

Carrie and Mike welcomed Jacob Bryan Fisher in late January. Fans were so happy to see the family with their new bundle of joy.

Mike shared a sweet post that showed Carrie bonding with her boys. Carrie sucked some helium out of a balloon to sing "Happy Birthday" to Isaiah while holding Jacob.

While it seems like the family is settling in together beautifully, Carrie's late-January delivery date gave her just under four months to prepare for the tour.

Carrie spoke with the Tennessean about what it would be like touring with two children.

"It's going to be a different ball game, for sure," she said. "My brain, I'm such a planner. I want to know how it's all going to go. But no matter who you are, you make it happen, you make it work, you get your team behind you."

Carrie recently took to Instagram to discuss another facet of her preparations. She spoke candidly about her experiences thus far with getting back into shape.

Carrie was very candid about her experience: "I’m going to be honest, 'bouncing back' after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately. I go into the gym and I can’t run as fast or as far. I can’t lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago. I just want to feel like myself again…for my body to feel the way that I know it can."

Carrie also emphasized the importance of having a positive perspective on what her body has just been through.

"As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me," she wrote. "It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk. As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t."

She also renewed her dedication to loving herself and doing things the healthy way.

"I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal," she continued. "I’m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I’m always working towards my goals, one day I’ll reach them. I’m going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do!"

Carrie knows a thing or two about fitness and body image. She runs her own fitness apparel company, Calia by Carrie.

Carrie is lucky to have the love and support of her fans behind her. Many of them understand the transformation a body makes during pregnancy and the mixed emotions you can feel afterward.

Carrie will undoubtedly be the best version of herself for her tour in May. Her body's comeback may not make headlines, but the heart behind her voice and dedication to her performances will make the Cry Pretty Tour 360 one of her most special yet.
