A new baby has joined Carson Daly and wife Siri's brood. The Today show host announced that Siri gave birth to a baby girl Thursday afternoon. “Carson & Siri Daly along with proud siblings Jackson James, Etta Jones and London Rose are beyond thrilled to announce the arrival of Goldie Patricia Daly!” Carson captioned the post. In the picture, he and Siri are both wearing protective face masks.
He continued, “She was born at 4:08pm (ET) coming in at 8.2 lbs., & 20 inches long. Go Go and mom are doing great.” It's a bit of much-needed good news in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the baby arrived at a New York hospital just as the city has become the epicenter of COVID-19 patients. It's a relief to hear that everyone is safe and healthy. But it had to be an incredibly frightening time to head to the hospital to welcome a new baby, especially in New York.
Carson made sure to give a special mention of the important people who ensured a safe delivery of his new baby in his post. “The Daly family wants to send a special shout out to the incredibly brave & selfless medical staff at our hospital in New York and also the many courageous people on the front lines of this dreadful virus," he wrote. Without the dedication of these individuals, people giving birth right now all over the globe would be in a much more challenging situation.
Of course, nurses and doctors have to go to work during a pandemic. Right now, we should all be acknowleding their selfless hard work.
Carson continued, “We thank God not only for the safe birth of our daughter, but for their tireless work attending to so many in need. It is a bittersweet event for us as we are extremely grateful, but also mindful of this unparalleled time in our history."
“We appreciate your well wishes and ask that you join us in praying for the many suffering around the world. God Bless you all," he wrote.
We're so glad he shared his special family moment with the world. Even though it's a scary time to bring a baby into the world, it feels like a little spot of sunshine through all the rain right now.
Carson first announced to his cohosts that Siri was expecting back in September while on the Today show. Carson joked with the other anchors about how hard he wasn't working during the pregnancy, giving his wife all the credit. “You should hug Siri, not me — I’ve done very little in this situation,” he said. It's a very sweet thing to say, which Siri likely appreciated, but Carson is an experienced dad, after all.
Still, pregnant bodies go through so much. It's always nice when spouses give credit where credit is due. Siri also joked on Instagram that she felt like she had been pregnant for "100 years."
Carson clearly loves being a dad to his three kids and frequently talks about his family while on Today. He also shares a lot on social media, so we get to see what his family is up to.
Siri shared her own post announcing the pregnancy, too. Alongside a sweet picture of her three kids' hands on her belly, she wrote, "Thrilled our family is growing. God’s blessings in our lives truly amazes us. Thank you for the kind thoughts & well wishes."
Carson and Siri have shared that a big family was always in their plans. Now that they have four kids, we'll have to wait and see if they stop there or keep having more. Of course, they will definitely have their hands full as they head home from the hospital in the coming days.
Surely Carson and Siri will be happy to be back home in the midst of the pandemic. The hospital is probably just about the scariest place to be right now, especially as the coronavirus cases continue to grow in New York, as well as all over the United States. While there are about 85,000 confirmed cases in the US, about half are in New York alone.
It's definitely an emotional time for the couple in more ways than one, as Carson shared in his post. He's a passionate New Yorker, for one. But he is also likely hearing about many people he knows and loves who are becoming ill right now, which, of course, we all are. However, being in the epicenter means that number is probably much higher for Carson and his family.
During this uncertain time, it can be hard to stay positive. Hopefully Carson and Siri can head home soon and just focus on their family. Truthfully, that seems to be what most people are doing now, as we all practice social distancing. But these two have a great reason to cozy up at home for the new few weeks or possibly even months — cuddling their new addition.
We're sending all of our best wishes to Carson, Siri, and the entire family. They are already one of the cutest families in the public eye. We can't wait to see more updates about new baby "Go Go" and see how her older siblings welcome her into their family.
Congrats Carson and Siri!
